How to perfect your home office.

Whether you’re working from the living room or a home office, let’s talk about making it the right environment for you. You’re most likely going to spend a lot of your week here, so make sure it’s perfect! Having the perfect office can improve your productivity, motivation and happiness during the working week.

The good news is, you can even claim some equipment for working from home on your tax return -such as desks, chairs and a laptop-so do invest in a good desk, chair, and a few motivational prints if that’s your bag. It makes such a difference and is a lot cheaper than signing up for a co-working group!

My next tip is to try to have storage for everything: although a lot of my receipts/payments/invoices are done electronically you still need a filing system for your accounting paperwork. I also have a post-it note wall which I cover in deadlines for different parts of my work. Storage cupboards are inexpensive or even build your own DIY one.

I’ve got my eye on one of those giant, wipeable wall planners for Christmas as I personally need to see everything set out in front of me when I start the working week! But you can also use digital versions of this such as Asana which is really useful if you have a blog or website with lots of content.

Flooring is also one of the most important aspects for making your home office feel both warm, comfortable, and your calm place! We’ve just moved house and ended up changing lots of the room’s flooring as it needs to practical with a toddler but also warm and also stylish if home decor is your thing. The previous offering was dull, beige stained carpet so we ripped it all up!

Karndean who has sponsored today’s post creates flooring options that are developed for those who are in to interior design and fine art, which is why their ranges are named after illustrious artists!

With styles of woods, stones, and others in a variety of beautiful finishes, Karndean Karndean Da Vinci, Opus, and Korlok ranges offer the perfect home flooring options whether it’s for your home office or living room. So do take a look if you’re planning a complete home office redesign.

My final tip is to make sure you pick the location of your home office wisely: ours is in the back of the house but we’ve just discovered that not only does this room get cold but the WIFI signal is no where near as strong as in the front of the house! So make sure you check the signal and my tips would pick a room that’s warm, with good signal and near to the kettle for a cup of tea!
